The Pursuit of Sonic Happiness

Hobby

Audiophile

It all started for me as a kid in the 90's with a Walkman, a head full of beats, and a pair of JVC DJ headphones the size of satellite dishes. I was the neighborhood basshead - before it was a branding gimmick - and if my eardrums weren’t vibrating like a Honda Civic trunk at a traffic light, I wasn’t satisfied.

But bass grew up. And so did I.

Today, it’s FLACs and Apple Lossless played through gear that turns every note into goosebumps. First came the Topping A30/D30, later modded with Burson op-amps. Then the JDS Labs Atom - clean, punchy, espresso-like precision. Now? The sleek Loxjie A30: DAC, amp, Bluetooth, and speaker output in one tidy, gunmetal box. No cable jungle necessary.

    🎧 Headphones That Hit Home

I've tried it all - dynamic, planar, and everything in between:

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro – industry legend, tank-tough and tight.

    Sennheiser 58X – warm, open, and vinyl-hugging.

Dekoni Blue / Hifiman HE400 – planar punch with soul.

But more recently, I’ve found THE ones:

DT 770 Pro X | Modern tuning, detachable cable, and lower impedance (48Ω vs 250Ω).

DT 1990 Pro | Open-back detail monster for critical listening days.

    🔊 Why It Matters

You don’t need $2,000 Focals or Audezes to fall in love with music again. Just the right gear at the right price. That’s the real sweet spot.
